WC: What’s one small moment or detail you’ve captured in a wedding film that still moves you today?
Garreth: There was a bride whose dad had passed away not long before the wedding. Her brother stepped in for the father-daughter dance and I’ll never forget the way she held onto him: no big moves, just quiet emotion. That one moment said everything.
WC: How do you approach telling a couple’s story in a way that feels true to them and not just beautiful on screen?
Garreth: I always try to make it feel like them. I don’t go in with a formula — I just watch, listen, and try to capture the vibe of who they are together. It’s more about the feeling than making every frame perfect.

WC: Can you walk us through a time you had to adjust creatively to make sure the story still came through in the edit?
Garreth: There was a wedding where the couple was super shy in front of the camera — not very affectionate or expressive, which made it tricky to capture those “big” emotional moments. But during the speeches, the groom got really emotional, and you could see the bride tearing up too. I ended up building the whole film around that moment. It reminded me that sometimes the story comes through in the small, unexpected things — you just have to be ready to spot it.
